VIOLETTE 30 is an ode to the undefinable contrasts in a single specimen. Centered around the rarer, shadow-seeking white violet – at once crystalline and untethered – it pairs verdant green floral notes with white tea notes, cedarwood, and a touch of guaiacwood. In the same way matcha tea is much more than just a drink in Japanese culture, THÉ MATCHA 26 is much more than a scent to us. Matcha tea accord is infused with a creamy fig note, grounded by soft vetiver and textural cedar woods, and uplifted by enticing bitter orange.

From this defining vision was born SANTAL 33: a perfume that touches the vast and wild universality of this dream... that intoxicates... It combines a mix of cardamom and notes of iris and violet, which crackle in the formula. Added to this smoking wood alloy (Australian sandalwood, cedarwood) are some spicy, leathery, musky notes, giving this perfume its signature and addictive comforting scent.

In 2010, Le Labo was commissioned by AnOther Magazine to work on an exclusive scent. This project was born thanks to Sarah of colette who initiated the creative collaboration between Le Labo and Jefferson Hack, editor-in-chief of AnOther Magazine. The result of this collaboration is ANOTHER 13, a hypnotizing and unique scent. It’s composed of ambroxyde, a synthetic animal musk, making ANOTHER 13 an addictive dirty potion blended with other carefully selected ingredients such as jasmine, moss, and ambrette seeds absolute – which gives it spike and shine. As the entire planet knows, colette closed its doors December 2017, but luckily we were able to welcome ANOTHER 13 to our Classic Collection in our labs worldwide.

THÉ NOIR 29 is an ode to the noble leaf and the craft that surrounds it.

THÉ NOIR 29 combines depth and freshness, softness and strength through permanent oscillation between the light of bergamot, fig, and bay leaves and the depth of cedarwood, vetiver, and musk. A special extraction of black tea leaves wraps up the composition by bringing to the formula a dry, leafy, hay, tobacco feeling in the dry down to transform this creation into a sensuous and addictive essence.

The perfume’s aim is clear: to transform the famous Grasse rose, a symbol of voluptuousness and unqualified femininity, into an assertively virile fragrance that can be worn by anyone…

The result is a model of its kind: alternating femininity and masculinity of the Centifolia rose, quickly picked up by a chorus of warm, spicy, and woodsy notes such as cumin, olbanum, cedar, and a touch of amber… In the background, the declared sensuality of Gaïac wood and cistus highlighted by distinctly musky notes, give this perfume a disconcerting sense of mystery.

This dazzling bergamot combines freshness, sweetness, and sensuality with acrobatic talent. All these qualities were encompassed in the perfume’s initial code name: “Fire Cologne”.

It’s the delicate floral character of petit grain, the bitterness of grapefruit, as well as the flamboyant sweetness of amber and musk with a virile touch of vetiver, which gives BERGAMOTE 22 its unique personality…

Truth is…BAIE 19 should have been called Water 19. Not that it smells like nothing (though nothing smells like it), but it has this crisp, wet, drenched effect that water gives to the earth after the rain…

And there’s a word for that, by the way: petrichor. It’s that magical feeling during heavy rain after a long dry spell, and it’s one of the most beautiful olfactive phenomena in nature.

There are many reasons for this, including the ozone in the air, the negative ions, but most importantly the release of oil secretions from certain plants, accumulated after a long dry period. This is what BAIE 19 is about: the dry juniper berry, the patchouli, the green leaves... all soaked by a beautiful, luminous, magnetic rain after a long drought. And the joy that comes with it…

LYS 41 is an overwhelming white floral – a blend of jasmine, tuberose absolute, and lily, bewitching in its noble, warm, and sunny approach – yet treacherous once caught in its web of noble woods, vanilla Madagascar, and musks.

LYS 41 rewards those looking for a statement with an addictive floral buzz that is as potent as its wake and as insistent as the people following you around. Good luck.

This one is dark. A good, addictive, warm dark, as if the humid summer underwoods, their seeds and resins, were sprinkled with layers of musks and sweetened with drops of vanilla. It evokes the smell of warm skin and resinous wood. The perfumer’s notes say orange flower absolute, the unique cedar atlas, styrax resins, absolute tonka, and musks... We say TONKA 25.

Neroli is another name for the essence of orange blossom. The unique quality of our Neroli is its sunny floral character with an extraordinarily warm, sensual base.

Rose, musk, mandarin orange (slightly aldehydic), jasmine, and vanilla, among other essences, complete the portrait, bringing NEROLI 36 spikiness, ease, zest, and heat… Well-being, elegance, and charm all in a bottle!

YLANG 49 is a chypre floral, where pua noa noa (gardenia from Tahiti) completes the floral voluptuousness of ylang ylang…

Patchouli, oakmoss, vetiver, sandalwood, and benjoin follow to tip the blend into darker sensual undertones... YLANG 49 is a walk in the woods, a lush floral bouquet in your hand, listening to J.S. Bach's well-tempered clavier and realizing that a floral composition can go beyond flowers, in the same way a fugue in D minor is way beyond the D.

A natural and one-of-a-kind orange blossom creation that took more than three years to compose. Its innate nobility is enhanced by fresh floral and lemony notes, rounded out by musk and the succulent, sunny touches of bergamot, petit grain, and lemon. This orange blossom has intensity and a delicious ambiguity that gives everyone the absolute power of sensuality.

Even though it is vital to the olfactory shock this perfume generates, patchouli is not easy to detect in this formula. The smoky, leathery character of birch takes over in the first few seconds, making this signature absolutely unique and difficult to situate. Fortunately, a touch of vanilla comes in to calm this little world, bringing peace, sensuality, and softness to these darker notes.

Its short formula gives it such a distinctive character that once you wear it, you’ll never forget it. A unique floral impact whose sensuality and lure is amplified by a majestically harmonious chord of musk, sandalwood, and vanilla. The crème de la crème of vetivers, nurtured in Haiti and retired to Grasse in accord with local know-how, is the pillar of this perfume that, without a doubt, is one of the deepest and darkest of all Le Labo creations. AMBRETTE 9 is undeniably a rarity as it is based mainly on the ambrette seed, the only musky scent made by nature itself and almost impossible to find. Lightly perfumed, the signature of this formula is fresh and soft thanks to a combination of citrus and fruit that gives a very special fragrance...

Iris is one of the most precious essences in the world. It’s the origin of the creamy and woodsy nobility of this exclusive fragrance. The best of the Patchoulis then waft in, bringing with them sensual depth. The perfume is reinforced by a musky base, our very own secret. The result is remarkable elegance.

As always, don’t expect just pure agarwood in this perfume. It’s even more. Oud 27 is an amber fragrance in the purest form, overwhelming and disturbing in its signature and power. Imagine One Thousand and One Nights, distilled into 27 intense ones.

Myrrh, a resin once considered to be so sacred that it was more valuable than gold, is known in Chinese traditional medicine as a “blood mover.” It should come as no surprise, then, that MYRRHE 55, Shanghai’s City Exclusive, is a creation that will get your heartbeat thumping. Myrrh, which smells of incense with a strong licorice twist, is at the “heart” of this creation. Its partners-in-crime are jasmine and patchouli, all well-anchored on a bed of oud, ambergris, and of course, musk (don’t worry, all vegan notes). Cilantro: the most controversial of all herbs? Some of us can wax poetic about those lacy leaves. And some of us fervently disagree. Need we say more? Yes, actually. We’re pretty sure CORIANDRE 39 will surprise you.

With the first spritz, a zing of spicy lime and aldehydic cilantro leaves (coriandre in French) set the stage for quieter crisp watery notes to peek through. Fresh, green florals enter, then stick around for an intoxicating musky dry down. It’s a sensory experience that teeters between tranquil and vibrant. You would ask ‘why LA’? Because angels have to be tempted into the smell of life. MUSC 25 is angelic, very musky, aldehydic, and so intensely luminous that you will need to wear shades to approach it. Yet, despite all this heavenly light, its core is somber and devilishly dark, with notes that are sensual, sexual, and decadent: vetiver with ambergris, musk, and civet (vegan synthetics, of course). Gaiac is a very hard, greenish wood that isn’t as dry as cedar, but is as subtle, profound, and stable. GAIAC 10 is a tense formula built on gaiac wood and surrounded by musk notes (4 different types in all), with hints of cedar and olibanum (incense). Don’t expect this woody musk to leave a perfuming trail from where you are to Hokkaido (unless you are already in Hokkaido), but it will stick on you and with you, despite your mood, for days and days, nights and nights... GAIAC 10 is only available in our Tokyo labs.

In the beginning, CITRON 28’s early code name was “Citron Boheme”; we wanted a real lemon perfume that wasn’t just lemon, but a twist on this icon of citruses. A mix and match of freshness and structure (lemon, ginger, and jasmine, resting on cedar and musk notes), it strikes the right balance between the original and the conservative. CITRON 28 meets the need for purity and simplicity and, as such, delivers something almost universal and easy to understand – yet remains inscrutable.​

This complex composition is dedicated to Seoul, an alpha city, one of the iconic capitals of the world. A city with its own contradictions, rooted in tradition and history yet at the forefront of all that is modern and forward thinking. Opposing forces that only a bohemian citrus can embrace.​

TUBEREUSE 40, like most of our scents, barely deserves its name. It is of course full of tuberose (absolute, and nothing less), but what hits you from the start is a wave of bergamot, tangerine, and orange flower that yields that surprising “eau de cologne” effect (despite its concentration of 30% which transforms this perfume into an extract). The first pschitt is, hence, pure well-being. TUBEREUSE 40 then slowly develops to the woody/floral heart that gives its unique character and comfort. You smell the white florals where the tuberose finally has its say, and the woods (cedar and sandalwood) sing along with oak moss, musks, and ambrette absolute to rock you into a state of intensity, pureness, and bliss. As long as there is light, there is life. As long as there is NY, there will be TUBEREUSE 40. Only available in our New York labs.

Bigarade is quite a scented enigma that somehow manages for strong olfactive clashes to co-exist harmoniously together despite their inherent oppositions. It’s very classical – yet isn't. It’s bright and very powerful; you can’t seem to breathe enough of it in…​

And it’s simple. You take the best bergamot and neroli petals there are and mix it with the best musks out there, add a drop or two of woods, et voila! The resulting tension is like a tug of war between the classical smell of citruses and the warm and transgressive hum of dark notes and woods where there is never a clear winner. BIGARADE 18 is rigid yet comfortable, classic yet contemporary, bright yet long-lasting.

We dedicate this perfume to Hong Kong, the fragrant bay of old and new, rich with memories for us of classic smells of white florals and citruses mixed with all the discovery and grandeur.

POIVRE 23 translates into Pepper 23, and it’s Le Labo’s pepper statement. Why pepper? (And we’re talking true Bourbon Pepper, the crown jewel of peppers.) Because it’s the spice of all spices, widely used in perfumery, and we wanted pepper to finally get what it deserves: the limelight. It is very warm, ultra spicy, truly ambery, and it’s only for London for most of the year.

The main story behind this fragrance refers to music – jazz music, in particular. There is a direct correlation between the sharp pepper and some of the more upbeat sounds of jazz, and the soft back representing the simpler, soothing side of the music. Either way, the uplifting effect of the music seems to carry you away; the same way the music of the spices (aldehyde and musk playing along with the pink pepper) brings your spirit up.

In pure Le Labo style, our Chicago exclusive scent reinvents pink pepper (baie rose in French) to knock you off with straight elegance, an endless wake, and a unique signature. Pink pepper is reinforced with clove, winking left and right to some cedar and aldehyde, while walking up the aisle to get married to the eternal rose absolute from Grasse. The result sits on musks. It is pure refinement, personality, and memorability.

ALDEHYDE 44 is only available in Dallas (Texas, that is). The scent is a small wonder – a mix of aldehyde overload that gives a unique cleanliness, a sublime floral composition built around narcissus, jasmin, and tuberose (all absolute, in case you wondered), and a bed of musk notes tied with a hint of vanilla. The result is esthetically admirable and unique.

You should know that we receive numerous postcards from perfume lovers that have somehow put their nose on some ALDEHYDE 44 and are now vacationing in Dallas. Our bad?

BENJOIN 19, our Moscow exclusive, is about a moment. A moment depicted by one of the most important writers of all time, Leo Tolstoy, in the eternal Anna Karenina, when Anna meets Count Vronsky in a Moscow train station. We like to think of CYPRÈS 21 as a cabin deep in the woods, a hushed retreat, out of reach of buzzing phones and blue light. An antidote to burnout. Bright, resinous cypress is supported by an understory of spicy aromatics – juniper, clove, and star anise – all of them grounded by the warmth of incense and seductive spell of patchouli. We can’t claim it will lower your cortisol, but we offer a quiet moment of peace with CYPRÈS 21.

AMBROXYDE 17’s magic comes from a synthetic molecule that will blow your nose away. It’s what gives natural ambergris its arresting, can’t-quite-find-the-right-word-for-it smell, and we can’t get enough of it (the cruelty-free version, that is!). So much so, that, despite already using it with a heavy hand in our iconic ANOTHER 13 perfume, we decided we needed it in a candle and named it after this intoxicating element: ambroxyde. A close cousin to ANOTHER 13, AMBROXYDE 17 is ambroxyde, musks, some woods, and a few jasmine petals that come to settle on a pedestal of moss. This radiant creation – diffusive, recognizable, and addictive – should really be sold in six-packs.

Le Labo’s Santal 26 is an aristocratic scent, at once gentle, smoky and leathery, that will fill your space and give it true personality. Come on baby light my fire. Frankincense, once worth more than gold – is the core of this scent. Softened by warm and resinous amber notes, and ignited with the rich spice of clove, Encens 9 offers serenity in our living space and inspires our souls to reach a calm state for contemplating new beginnings. Palo Santo carries with it an energizing freshness yet can be sometimes overwhelming when used raw.
